For generations dance teachers, myself included, have struggled to help young children understand the complications of anatomy, ‘placing’, how to overcome sickling, pronation, supination and a myriad of other corrections as we sought to ensure beauty of line and, above all, freedom from anatomy-related injury.

A sock is a sock, or so I thought! But not so! These “helpful” dance socks are no ordinary sock, they are unique. They are beautifully and cleverly designed with gorgeous colourful characters, including a fairy, a unicorn and a super cute mouse, - all favourites of kids of all ages. The colours are divine, a rainbow of bright fun colours that catch the eye and the imagination.
I have no background in dance beyond encouraging my dance-mad daughter, but I do know that her face lit up when she took the socks out of the pretty and practical sock bag. She quickly explored their numerous features and I was impressed by how quickly she understood the purpose of each feature in reinforcing correct dance technique. I am amazed at how Jenna has incorporated 10 features to assist learning in one pair of socks! Whatsmore, she has done so in a way that taps into the imaginations of young dancers as they avoid flat feet by ensuring they don’t “squish” the ever- so- cute mice on their socks. The fact that children can remind themselves what they have been taught in the studio by looking at their socks and the way their feet move in them, makes them an invaluable tool to help each dancer self-regulate their technique.
Each annual dance recital put on by JMSD reminds me that Jenna McKenzie weaves magical experiences for children and for adults. There is undoubtedly some of that magic in these socks. They are a gorgeous, fun, age-friendly tool that will certainly assist every dancer who loves wearing them.

They help me in so many ways and I use them in dance class and to practice at home. When I dance at home it’s like having my dance teacher with me reminding me to put my knees “in line with the fairies”.
I love how there are socks for all ages, there are different colours that all pop and you can wear them for different styles of dance. The characters are proper cute and my favourite is the unicorn.
The socks are very comfortable and cosy to wear. When Miss Jenna tells us to put them on in class everyone gets very excited. They definitely make me feel happy and dance my best!
