Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I purchase Dance Socks?

Dance Socks can be purchased from our website: click here

What is the difference between socks laces and without?

It is the teacher, guardian or students choice between the two versions. You have the option to purchase with shoelaces, meaning each sock has four small button holes where a colour coded 30cm shoe lace (4 per set supplied) can be threaded and removed. The lace can be used to enhance the visual guide of the ‘Heart and the ‘Tiny toe star’.  Which aides in learning turn-out technique.

Students can learn to correctly move the foot with the heel or toe leading by feeling the (gentle) pull of the shoelace. The lace is then removed and the dancer would be expected to imagine the lace pulling the foot in the correct direction.

If purchasing the socks with laces keep in mind your socks will have 4 small button holes. If choosing to wear our dance socks as regular socks you may wish to choose to purchase the ‘without’ lace version.

Please note: The socks are designed for the dancer to move their own foot - not rely on the lace to pull the dancer's foot.

Socks without laces still offer the same features - for example the heart on the inside of the heel can lead forward during a tendu - but the socks with the laces have the option to add to this learning experience.

Socks without laces are priced less than the socks with laces.

Teachers: If you are unsure of which to purchase, we recommend at least one set of socks with laces to be used in class for children to visualize. The with lace and without lace versions work well together in class. We are also able to arrange studio sample sets. Please contact us.

Which size should I order?

See our helpful size chart - we will have a larger range of colours for each size coming soon!

Do the socks replace dance shoes?

Not at all, our socks are designed to be used at the dance barre or while learning foot movements. They can be worn alone, underneath or over top of most dance shoes (especially designed to slip over top of shoes to save time during a lesson). They are not to replace dance shoes. Socks can be slippery on smooth surfaces, which is great for learning to slide the foot more easily, feeling the floor and further articulate the foot.  But do take care if dancing in the center not to fall over, as we take no responsibility for this.

How do I care for my socks and bag?

Socks
We have found cool or warm water with a splash of tea tree oil or washing disinfectant then hung out to dry in the shade is the best way to wash your socks and keep them fresh! We do not recommend tumble drying.

Bag
Warm machine wash, do not dry clean, do not bleach, hang to dry, do not tumble dry or iron.

How can I track my order?

You can track your order once it has been processed. You will receive an email from us or the chosen shipping company with a tracking number.

How long will my socks last for?

Socks get holes, how quickly depends on how much you wear them and what you are doing in them. We have done what we can to make these bad boys last! Our socks have extra reinforcement in the toes and heel to ensure you gain the most life out of your socks. You can wear the socks over your dance shoes or alone. We suggest trimming your toenails to lessen the chance of those dancing toenails cutting through!

We don’t exchange socks from usual wear and tear but if your sock arrives with a fault we will happily help you.

Please note: Our shoelace visual aid - is designed as exactly that, a visual aid. The teacher or dancer is to use the lace as a visual. The dancer actually has to move his or her foot in the direction the lace is “pulling”  themselves. The string is not to be pulled too hard or else it could create a hole.
