Padding and Arch Support copy.jpg

Arch support + padded heel and toe

Light arch support is featured in every sock, working to hold the sock in place as well as reminding the dancer to engage their arches.

Extra padding for the toe and heel - the padded heel and toe areas ensure comfort, mild support and reinforcement.

Please keep in mind: Socks get holes, especially loved ones used for dancing, so please expect usual wear and tear holes to appear. If for some reason the sock is faulty we will replace or refund you.

SHHHHHHH!

Here is a sneak peek just for you!

On purchase you gain a SPECIAL PASSWORD to join The Secret Academy and find out exactly how our 10 features work...for now you can have a peek at two of our favourite features!

Stars - “Line up the stars!”

How to place on your foot: The stars shooting from your Fairy’s wand (or Panda if you own the mint ‘Sockology’) should be placed in a straight line when you are wearing the sock.

Your Fairy (or Panda) should sit directly above your second and third toes (the ones beside your biggest toe). With the Stars shooting up to create a very straight line towards the centre of your knee.

How to use: To ensure the Stars are kept in a lovely straight line the dancer must learn to move their own foot to straighten up the Stars = correct alignment!

Whether it is during a pirouette or pointing the foot in any position. They can then visualise where the foot should be placed once the sock has been removed.

Side note: For non dancers (sickle/banana foot = foot is out of alignment with the leg, which can cause injury) you can see a sickled foot example in our video.

Fairy/Owl- “Knee over fairy (or Owl)”

How to place sock: Our Fairy (or Owl if  you own the mint “Sockology”) is carefully placed to be over your second and third toe and can be adjusted to suit your teachers’ wishes.

How to use: In fondu (one knee bent) or plie (both knees bent) the knee should aim to be overtop of our Fairy or Panda. Children are to visualise the centre of the knee reaching over and past the Fairy image. Basically encouraging the dancer to be aware of where their knee is to be placed.

Often dancers roll the placement inwards creating ugly lines and setting up for serious injuries. The sock helps to ensure correct placement to avoid injury to ankles, hips and knees, instead maintaining beautifully correct technique. A correct fondu and plie is the very important base for landing and take off for all elevation steps.

Side note: Ensure the turn out is coming from the dancers hip/turn out muscles, rather than from the foot. Always work within the child’s natural turn out ability so not to damage children’s growing joints.
